Yesterday the forcast called for 100% chance of rain, heavy cloud cover, winds 15 to 25mph with gusts much higher, and temps in low 40's, typical mid February Alaska. So I prepared for one of those just-put-your-head-down-and-paddle days where you just pretend to enjoy the experience and the best part of the day is the hot shower afterwards. When I hit the water I discovered no rain (not even a drop) no wind, glass calm seas, huge holes in the clouds letting the sun through and the temps climbing into the mid 50's. I paddled ten miles enjoying the scenery and wildlife of the Wrangel Narrows. They ought to fire the weatherman. How could they miss it by so much? With tongue firmly planted in my cheek, Bob *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
