[Paddlewise] Winter Conditioning for Kayaking ?

Here in Michigan, some of our finest paddlers (I'm talking Olympic gold)
are also our finest XC skiiers. They totally dominate in races where
other skiers "miss the wax," by double-poling the entire course, even
uphill. If you lack snow, but have frozen lakes, double-poling in
ice-skates is also a hellacious workout. Great for the triceps and
lats.
Some of us also look for open bays and rivers and keep in shape for
paddling-- by paddling all year long.

What
>type of winter exercise will provide good conditioning for kayaking?
