It's hard to tell how far your and your son could go, speaking of time
available and skills (and, who knows, weather too). Check this link -
http://wlapwww.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/  --> Search by geographical location.
Wherever is a park, it's a gurantee of landing and camping spot.  Unlikely
you'll be exploring these shore alone on a weekend, especially if campsite
is particularly nice.  Expect to share it with 1 or 2 kayaking groups.
I have some doubts in shrimp dinner, unless you buy them in Safeway before
leaving. But then you'll need a cooler, so I would rather opt for canned
meat, dry frutis etc :-). Check tidal tables for this area - tides magnitude
is ubnormal this year. I've heard some fog is expected in the next couple of
days in Vancouver area.
