> Seriously, for those of us who dream/plan well ahead ...where is everyone > planning to paddle in 2005? Well, I hope to take a trip to Tybee Island in Georgia that I planned last year and ended up not being able to take. It's not wilderness, but it's a great little area. I'm trying to get there for a week sometime in late march thru April. I won't know for sure until just a few weeks ahead of time, though. There are 8 interested P'wisers who may meet there for a few days. After Christmas, I'll be communicating with the group more regularly to make some arrangements, so anyone who may have an interest.... just let me know and I'll add you to the list. I also hope to resume my annual weeklong trip to the North Carolina Outer Banks. I missed it last year for the first time in... well... forever! It's a family beach vacation, but I take my boats. I did manage to get there for a 3 day weekend later in the season, but it just wasn't quite the same. I'm still dreaming about Glacier Bay, Boundary Waters, Georgian Bay, Acadia, and a host of others. I have folders for each of them, and I'm continually adding information to them. I agree that trip planning is a large part of the fun, but eventually, you've got to take the trip! My trips aren't being taken not because I don't have the vacation time.... it's simply that I can't afford (in a non monetary sense) to be away from the office long enough to take the trips, and I don't have a suitable partner to take the trips with. I like trips with solitude - I just want at least one other person there with me to share it with :-) So, for the most part, the day in and day out paddling will be in and around the Chesapeake Bay here in Virginia. Some paddling time will be pre-empted with hiking in the Shenandoah Mountains, which is about a 2-1/2 hour drive from my home. One of my teenage daughters has taken an interest in exploring the many waterfalls there, and I'm not going to discourage it. So, nothing overly exciting or note worthy, but that's how next year is looking for me nonetheless.
