What are you talking about? Where and when???? There have been exacly
three responses to the original post, one from me partially quoted
above, one from you also partially quoted above and a third from John
Snoddy. So where are these other mentions including yours??

I show these [previous] messages in the thread (as seen here):

	Message-Id: <C77C09E0-EFDF-49C2-BB04-2984A76B767D_at_comcast.net>
	Message-Id: <3cf0bfb38c40f339de5912350b781fe1_at_solitaireboats.com>
	Message-ID: <004101c57801$32a06500$2b02a8c0_at_station>
	Message-Id: <20050623160812.D5DD2109B2C_at_ws6-4.us4.outblaze.com>

which I believe matches what you're saying above.

So either we're both missing messages in the thread (possibly different
messages) or we really are seeing the same thing.

p.s. Side note (since I noticed that someone's on Comcast): sometime in
the last 24-72 hours, Comcast has started _discarding_ some incoming mail.
"discard" has a very specific meaning in the context of mail: it means
that someone's mail system has accepted a message but not delivered it
AND that it hasn't notified the sender or recipient about doing this.
This has been noted and verified by several independent observers,
so I've no doubt that it's real. As to the cause, extent and fix,
who knows? It's Comcast, one of the poster children for how not to
run a consumer broadband network.

In my gmail account I've got 7 messages in the "Paddling Tunes" thread,
and one that has the same subject but lost the threading. I've also got
14 in the second thread entitled "Paddling Music". It's now 6:30 AM EST
and it looks like a good number of the posts in the "Paddling Music"
thread were in the last 24 hours.

> p.s. Side note (since I noticed that someone's on Comcast):

owner_at_paddlewise.net gets forwarded to comcast. So administrative
messages (such as items sent to be moderated from people top replying to
posts) may be disappearing. Paddlewise posts that don't need moderator
intervention only go to comcast for people based at comcast.

I concur, comcast is generally inept, but DSL didn't work to my house,
so I'm stuck with them for the time being.

Ah ha! Therein lies the problem. The thread to which I responded was
neither of those. It was "Waterproof Music". I select what I read,
(and therefore respond to), by thread, (by which I mean subject line).
In addition I was on a two week trip in the BWCA until the middle of
this week. I don't read every message that comes through this or any
other list to which I subscribe.

Is there a better way to sort or cull by thread, especially in cases
where the subject line is altered along the way, (I use a pop mail
client)?

Michael

BTW: Stephen, it was not my intention to be "snotty" - merely
emphatic.
