Hi,

The 76 CS is an older model, that is
no longer made, but it isn't as efficient,
energy-wise, as newer types. According to
GARMIN, it used two AAs:

"
# Weighs 7.6 ounces (with batteries)
# LED-backlit display and keypad
# Up to 20 hours battery life (uses two AA alkaline batteries) "

That's when it is used in its most efficent way, with
very fresh batteries, the more you change set-ups, et cetera,
the worse mileage you'll get! I'd guess you'll get less
than ten out of a cheap pack of batteries!

Note that it used to cost over $530!

I've got a GARMIN 315, and it also got
two batteries, but those are gone in a jiffy,
say half a day, so I use my bilge pump
battery as power, normally!

Works very well:

It is interesting that the newer 76CSX has even less battery life than older
76CS, according to one British review. About 30% less (though Garmin claims
that it's 10% less).

Weird, really weird!

Tord

PS Sorry I called the Magellan 315 a Garmin product!
