A group of paddlers set out from La Jolla Shores, CA on Saturday to check out the migrating gray whales. I wasn't able to paddle, so I settled for taking some pictures of their launch. I'm told they saw a lot of spouting and a few tail flukes. I had hoped the surf launch would make for some interesting pics, but the conditions were rather mild. http://www.sandmarks.net/SDWhales.html *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). Yes that does look a bit odd! Had the surf been a bit bigger, it might have led to some interesting situations, but as mild as it was the air brace seemed to be all that was needed. You know, the air brace is quite popular with tight-rope walkers! -----Original Message----- From: Kirk Olsen [mailto:kork4_at_cluemail.com] http://www.sandmarks.net/SDWhales.html Air braces look to be popular in this batch of photos. A couple people appeared to have their paddles parallel to the water, over their heads going through the waves... the critic. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
