A bit of misunderstanding - it isn't the mounting screws that attach the base to the kayak that were a problem, but the tabs that secure the removable, white part of the pump from the blue base. You know how you have to press a tab in to remove the white part? - those tabs snapped off over time. The three outer tabs snapped off, while the inner ones are still in place. They hold the pump body loosely and it can come off more easily. I like the battery holder you found. Where did you find it?
