Its still spring here in mid October, so the weather can be very
changeable. Can't speak for Wellington, but with the Auckland / Hauraki
Gulf area day time air temperature would be around the high teens to low
20's (C ). Water temperature would be just starting to warm up with a
lot of people going for their 1st swim at Labour weekend, so lets say
around the 18C to 20C mark. Rain will be unpredictable this far advance
but yes expect it, October is traditionally wet and windy although you
will have stretches of fine weather.

Because we don't have much land mass between the seas NZ weather is very
changeable. Hope for the best but be prepared for the worse and don't
plan on doing this or that on certain days, instead be flexible and have
back up plans so if the weather does turn to the worse you can still get
out and enjoy yourselves.

Cheers
Grant
