The "land" channels in the M88 are programmable in the 146 to 174 Mhz range.
There are 22 available. This is the 2-meter amateur radio band in the USA so
those who are ham radio operators can have one handheld to cover both the
ham frequencies and the marine band. The rest are business or commercial
frequencies (channels) that require specific licensing. I don't know if
they've disabled this function or not. It was probably an attempt to combine
several radios into one. You might google for more info.
