I remember long ago the mention of renting a folding kayak from a
company that would ship it to you (or your destination) for a number of
days/weeks, and then you would ship it back after you trip. Anyone know
if they are still in business?

Thanks,
Frank

Don't know if they're still in business but if I recall the "New York
Kayak Company" used to drop ship folding kayaks.

Where is Ralph Diaz when we need him?

These used to rent Feathercrafts few years ago http://www.ecomarine.com/ -
not too cheap, of course. And not days - I think the shortest term was 1 or
2 weeks. They are still in business, AFAIK.

I think you mean Folding Kayak Adventures. For several years Lyle rented
kayaks this way and also sold them afterward by applying the cost of the
rental to the price. As I remember him telling me, he wasn't satisfied with
any of the liability insurance he was able to find and decided to drop the
rental business because of that. He continued to sell Feathercraft kayaks
though and even after Feathercraft ended most dealer relationships and sold
mostly factory direct Lyle was one of the few "Reps" that they kept. At that
time Lyle was still calling himself Folding Kayak Adventures so I suppose if
you looked that up you could find if he was still in business. I'm pretty sure
he is not renting though. I'm not sure I remember Lyle's last name but if I
had to guess I'd say Hansen. We sold him his first few folding kayaks.

Okay it was Hancock. At least I got the first three letters right. I see from
the link that he has moved from Seattle and is now in Durango, Colorado.
