I have tried out the cetus LV twice and liked it a lot except for the skeg
which is the worst skeg I have ever used. Very hard to get up or down. i was
thinking about buying one except for the lousy skeg.

I heard there was going to be a mid-size model as well, just in case you
find the LV to low.

I like the kayak; the outfitting is well done and from the perspective of
deck design, seat, rim recess, etc, I think the Cetus rocks. Of course, the
hull is where it counts. I've heard it is less than neutral in cross wind,
so like many kayaks today, the skeg is a helpful and often necessary
addition.

I do think the kayak is better suited to tripping as opposed to
day/weekend/play use. With width astern, friends tell me if feels stable
enough and it does appear to cruise at a good clip.

There was a sweet deal at MEI in Victoria last week on a slightly used LV
with a hull repair that while not too bad, was a strong indication of how
inadequate these carbon/Kevlar hulls are to the everyday rigors of sea
kayaking. I realize the trade off is weight savings for solo carrying, etc,
but it is not one I can sanction.

Debra asked:

"I am thinking of purchasing a Cetus LV in Carbon/Kevlar. I paddled one this
weekend at the Southwest Kayak Symposium and I am intrigued. ...Anyone have
any experience/input that they would like to share?"
