Turns out this vessel has a substantial history as a kayaking support vessel: http://www.kayakchartersbc.com/boat.htm -- Dave Kruger Astoria, OR *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). I could use a life style change right about now. But a 37 year old wooden haul??? And what happens when oil goes to $500.00 a barrel? Wooden boats, as long as you use them a lot, can last a long time. The downside to this is that you do have to replace bits and the people who do the replacing (unless you are pretty handy) can be spendy. Dave.... who just built a wooden boat... cleverly encapsulated all the bits in epoxy which should pay off big time when he turns 80. As far as $500 oil goes, I think I'd finagle a way to moor the boat in Nanaimo. I am pretty sure I could happily live in Nanaimo on a boat for a long, long time and not really have to move it very far.
