I took a dinner ride on the Skunk Train and it was a great time. My friends just did a trip with LFK and had a great time with Jeff and Cate. I've paddled in Elk, which is just below Mendocino and I've been wanting to go back ever since. I'd say you picked wisely! We recently went on a multi-day trip with Liquid Fusion. We had a wonderful time. Jeff and Cate do an excellent job of keeping you within your comfort range and then encouraging you to extend yourself with their help. We were in Fort Bragg in mid-June and the water was fairly cold (but we live in Southern California so everything is cold to me). We had on dry suits, but I'm pretty sure you don't want to buy a dry suit for this trip. I'd suggest sending an e-mail to Jeff and Cate and ask them what type of clothing you'll need. ...and you're right about your cut-offs, they won't hack it. Have a good trip.
