[Paddlewise] Potential emergency light

I'm intrigued by an ad that just came via Optics Planet for a $2.50 LED light
that would seem to have great potential for emergency use and easy portability
in a PFD. I wonder if anyone has used these:

You can see their advertising is aimed at military-type uses and maybe the
range isn't good enough for a potential search and rescue plane to pick it
up.

On an entirely different topic, and realizing most on this list seem to be
from climes where direct exposure to the water is un-fun most of the year, any
of your crossed over to standup paddle-boarding? I'm sorely tempted here -
like I need another boat in my garage, but it looks like great fun.
