Hi Folks, Ibm spending some time in Canada and the US later this year, and as plans are firming up it looks like my wife and I will have some time in San Francisco before we leave. We will be there at the end of October/beginning of November. Ibm keen to get a paddle in while there, and I hope that someone can point me to the right people to contact. I know that most Paddlewisers have moved to Facebook, but I havenbt gone down that track so I hope some still use the archaic (!!!) system of email. Hope all is well in the land of paddling. Happy New Year! Ya, almost everyone is over on Facebook including our illustrious leader. but Paddlewise is still up and working and I don't think we've all cancelled our membership. Just stopped posting, more-or-less. I suspect someone will chime in here. There is a large group called BASK that you might search for on the 'net. Their website might give you some ideas. Then there is CSK (California Sea Kayakers) which is mostly southern California but also has NorCal members. Good luck. :) Craig On Thu, Jan 10, 2013 at 1:18 AM, John Kirk-Anderson <jka_at_snap.net.nz> wrote: > Hi Folks, > > Ib m spending some time in Canada and the US later this year, and as plans > are firming up it looks like my wife and I will have some time in San > Francisco before we leave. Let me correct part of this.... it's not CSK but CKF (California Kayak Friends). Search on that instead. My apologies (and thanks to Debra). Thanks All, To clarify, Ibll be paddling in the Vancouver Island area with fellow-Paddlewiser, Gary Jacek, at the start of my trip. The Victoria paddlers are so organised I was contacted months ago and told EXACTLY when I would be doing a presentation for them, complete with map to venue! Ibm hoping to get out in the San Francisco area at the end, and Ibve had some great suggestions. Thanks for the help, and Ibm still keen to hear more. I'm impressed that the Vancouver crew were organized enough to schedule you for a presentation ;-) I've had great luck getting paddlewise paddling companions when traveling. Every time I asked about paddling while traveling I received info on where to paddle, sometimes with people to paddle with and on one occasion a loaner boat. Can't help you on San Francisco, if you happen to swing by Boston/Portsmouth NH I'll kick in some ideas...
