Wondering this myself.

A few weeks ago I happened to drive past a sign inn Issaquah WA saying "kayak festival today". It was already at the end of the day and I was busy with errands. So, I missed the only paddle festival this year, ten minutes from my house, because I had no notice. Where was this promoted? Where else should I hang out to hear about paddling stuff?

It was the Northwest Paddling Festival. I think it is a reaction to the
Port Townsend festival in September which is no longer being held.

For a year or two it was held over on Lake Washington. Not sure how long it
has been at Lake Sammamish. I think I saw a flyer for it in an REI email. They
had lots of vendors and races. Free if you had a Discovery pass, with a
nominal fee for paddling the test boats. But I agree - it was not well
advertised. They do have a Facebook page - which might be the best way of
keeping track of next years festival. Mike

Actually, it was held in West Seattle (near Seattle's Harbor Island at a park
that had just openned) two years ago and for the last two years it has been at
Lake Sammamish State Park. It never was on Lake Washington, that I know of
anyhow.

You are right... I was misremembering where it had been the 2 years previous
to Lake Sammamish.
It never was on lake Washington.

Yes, and the annoying thing is that NW Paddling Festival keeps being
scheduled on the same weekend as Paddlefest in Richland, WA, always on a Friday
and Saturday.
I Google kayak symposiums or kayak festivals and specify WA or OR, in
the spring and several times through the year, and also the specific
locations of previous symposiums, such as SSTIKS, to try and keep up to date.
Lumpy Waters is coming up in October, in Oregon. ACA National
Paddlesport Conference is in Bend, Oregon, Sept. 27-29.
            Pam in Graham WA
