Nah, we don't carry them. U.S. built kayaks have a built-in dry storage area
for them. (Sea water is rough on the finish) Hunting jetskiers is legal only
during certain periods of the year and you have to have a permit. A friend
of mine was recently fined while hunting even though he had a permit and was
in the right season. Seems the Coast Guard thought his half-naked girlfriend
was baiting the jetskiers in close.

someone might be able to reach this conclusion from some Holywood movies.
a buddy from Belguim who was on sebatical on the East Coast of the US took a
cross country trip and he made sure to visit Holywood so that his kids could
see the difference between film and reality.

i've only seen guns on the water by folks who were hunting. duck and goose
hunting around the Chesapeake bay is common.

one cold winter day, a small row boat without much freeboard due to its 3
heavy passangers passed me as i went upstream in a very isolated swamp. it
was on a tight bend and they did not have much control due to the fast
flowing water. i made sure to yield way as i looked down the barrels of
some mighty large shot guns.

thank goodness in this region, gun slingers are not a big part of water
activities...
i've seen a few James Bond movies too. thrilling

Nope not all of us. Some do when going into human country, others do when
going into bear country. Real paranoids do all the time. I've never owned
or even shot a gun in my life. Don't ever plan to. I paddle in bear
country fairly often. Sometimes in human country, but I'm more careful
there than in bear country, have to admit.

Here in Fla. even babys in strollers have guns, little old ladies to, so to
pull a gun with out killing some one is dangerous. Besides I thought all
kayakers carried them. Why wouldn't you?
