[Paddlewise] Importing a kayak from Canada to the US

Hi,
 I've got a chance to buy a Necky kayak from a private
party in Canada. I live in the US. Does anybody know
how the US customs and duties work for buying a kayak
in Canada and bringing it into the US? ALso does
anyone have any ideas of who to hire to transport the
kayak from Canada to California? I appreciate any info
