Just to follow up a short thread from a while ago, I received a sample of the Vitudden deck fitting, viewable at http://www.vitudden.com/english.htm I installed the fitting centrally a short distance behind the cockpit as a tow point anchor. Fitting required flattening the slightly rounded glass deck. I think these fittings are really only suitable for flat, or near flat mounting. When fitted it seemed strong, and the boat could be lifted from it. The manufacturer says it will withstand 600 lb. These would be pretty good for stitch and glue boatbuilders. Dave: I received the one deck fitting free, as a sample. I have asked for a price on a small quantity, and I am still waiting. Vitudden probably are not interested in exploring the very small Oz market, and I am not interested in chasing them, as my plans for my next boat have changed. QCC kayaks use them: http://www.qcckayaks.com/features-hardware.htm You might get a price from them. I got a response the other day from Vitudden when asking for prices (I received a sample fitting as well), but the attachment wasn't interpretable. I seem to be going to Hong Kong in three weeks to teach kayaking - any other kayaers there or kayaking ideas? Most of my friends just seem to talk about shopping opportunities, and I hate shopping. SNIP Peter, et al, When installing a fitting such as this for towing, would you orient the pin parallel to the long axis of the boat or perpendicular?
