My nine year old, Annie, just returned from her first two day outing paddling her own solo boat -- a Perception Umiak. She was enthralled and off and flying literally within minutes. The boat was ideal for her, an affordable "real" kayak, not a tubby plastic toy, a boat she could both track and turn and make go surprisingly fast when the interest struck. The Bending Branches 180 cm., one piece, indexed, unfeathered paddle was just the ticket (as well as being modest priced and only 1 lb. 9 oz.). So all is well except for the drip ring issue -- there are none on her one piece paddle. Have any others solved this problem in some reasonable, low tech fashion? All advice appreciated.
