 Marinell,
A couple of months ago I received a Violation notice in your driveway.
Again, it was the terrible sight of a Kayak atop a vehicle. I know that a
number of Kayakers are reluctant to take their kayaks home if they happen to
live in a condo or worse, in a "gated" community with their Gestapo
tactics.

With all the "real" problems that exist in our lives today the rationale
totally escapes me of why the boards of these communities instruct their
"minimum wage guards" to assault the residents with such trivia.

I say FIGHT, or move back to South Florida, we still miss you.
Pat Moss

Pat, I think we are both still simmering over this, and the best advice I
got from the group was to go paddling tomorrow.
The temperature high here is supposed to be 62 degrees tomorrow (72 degrees
in Miami) , but I may force myself.

I apologize for quoting anyone about doing any physical harm to anyone. In
this case, the community association has been supportive so far.

On the night your van was ticketed, you were tired when you arrived, the
kayak was visible, and it just didn't occur to us that a one night visit
would be a problem.
I own a single-family home with a large yard. Someone walked up to the
front porch in the middle of the night and unplugged the small refrigerator
you had inside your van. You could have had medicines requiring
refrigeration. That's the part that bothered me.

If it's too cold to paddle tomorrow, I'll work on building racks inside my
garage for the 3 kayaks that are hidden there.

NO NOTES TO PADDLEWISE FROM ME TOMORROW
Marinell

Okay, Marinell, now your'e just rubbing it in :-)

It snowed last night for the first time this winter (looked like 4-6 inches based on the hood of my truck) - but at least the put-ins aren't iced in and the temps haven't dropped below the mid twenties yet, with water temps at 50.5. By many standards, this would still be mild weather, wouldn't it?

Move to Tasmania,
Life is still good enough not to require these sorts of housing communities
and the paddling is good all year round :)

Cheers
Wilky.

Might be mild to you, Rick, but I'm not even venturing out in those 30+ mph
winds. Wake me up about March, please. :--)
