Brian's idea makes a lot of sense to me, and I can offer some help. The web in general is a great place to hook up with local paddlers when traveling. And there is some comfort in knowing that contacts participate in a forum such as PW, though there are other club and web forums I also respect. Some of you are already familiar with my web project, KayakGuide.com, and some have already contributed paddling routes to it. One of the key pieces of information on each KayakGuide listing is the paddling route author's contact information (e.g. email address or phone, etc.). I would be happy to append to that information the phrase "PaddleWise" as a way of knowing that the contributing paddling route author is a PWsr. As with all the contact information, however, this would be up to the contributing author to decide to publish. As a side benefit, more paddlers may also learn of PW. PW is special in that it is global and reaches across the geographical boundaries of paddling clubs (as does KayakGuide). It makes sense to facilitate person to person contacts as much as possible for a number of reasons. Aside from paddling with new friends with local knowledge, there are also practical benefits, such as lending or borrowing boats and equipment to visiting paddlers, something I've enjoyed doing many times. Knowing that the visitor is a PWsr adds a level of comfort that they also more likely to be a more experienced paddler with similar interests. -- Al Vazquez KayakGuide.com tm Places to Paddle tm - Kayaking - Canoeing - Rafting - *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
