I need to find a source of light line (1/4 inch or less diameter) which
floats. High breaking strength is not important, since this is not for
towing or similar purposes. Ideally the line should be more flexibile than
the braided yellow polyester stuff commonly sold at discount stores. (If
anyone's interested, I hope to use the line as a long leash with which to
keep my golden retriever dog from chasing ducks when she swims - she's a
great dog in all other respects, but she has no sense at all and I don't
want her "lost at sea".)

So - a light line less than 1/4 inch - where to buy or order? Thanks fro
any help - Bill Hansen

I have a friend that had her Lab go through the ice trying to get to some ducks
in unfrozen area of a pond. I got verrrrry cold and wet getting her out!

I'm curious as to just how the leash will keep your dog from trying to get to
the ducks? Or is it to give you a means to retrive the retriver??? :-)

The ultimate floating line: floating Spectra. Found one reference to it at
http://www.theboatpeople.com/atr_safety.html#Floating_Rope

Searching Google using "+floating +spectra +rope" found a bunch of sites.

Haven't used it yet myself, but I'm going to try it out as a perimeter
line and as a rescue/tow line.

Hope this helps.

You need polypropylene rope. It is light and it floats! You can buy it at
Home Depot or similar store, or at a Marine supply store. Mike
