Little Tybee, only a half mile away can be camped on with no permit needed. It has no facilities of any kind so pack it in and out. Including your water. But its free! Tybee is pretty much small enough that if you bring a bike you can see most of it easily. You might even run into Sandra Bullock. She lives near the light house.
